Middle school elective courses offer students a diverse array of opportunities to explore their interests and talents beyond the core curriculum. Elective options often include courses in the arts, such as visual arts, and theater, providing students with avenues for self-expression and creativity. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) electives allow students to delve into topics like robotics, coding, and engineering, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Committed to providing eligible students with a free appropriate public education in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other applicable laws. Our tailored placement decisions consider individual needs. FSUS has limitations in the programs and services it can provide within the continuum of placements under the IDEA. Our offerings include support for Gifted, English Language Learners (ELL), and a Multi-Tiered System of Support, ensuring a comprehensive approach to education for every student.

We believe in fostering a productive atmosphere where every student has the right to learn without disruptions. Students, administrators, and teachers all play a role in modeling appropriate behavior and supporting the necessary structure for self-discipline.

In our commitment to safety, we encourage students to take responsibility for their actions, practice self-control, and acknowledge consequences for inappropriate behavior. Parents/guardians are also essential partners in maintaining this safe environment and are urged to collaborate with faculty and administration.

While our goal is not to punish, consequences are effective tools to modify behavior. Discipline referrals may result in consequences, documented for future reference. FSUS employs various forms of consequences, outlined in the Code of Student Conduct. Additionally, we utilize Nole Notes to encourage students to self-correct before facing referrals.
