Mrs. McGinley (Hernandez)

I am returning to FSUS for my second year (19th year in education). What a crazy year 2020 has been!

I grew up in Miami, Florida, and I am the second oldest of 4 kids. My professional career includes over fifteen years of combined experience as an English teacher, club sponsor, and school test administrator in Miami-Dade County Public Schools (and now FSUS). I taught all high school grade levels and courses ranging from English I to AP English Literature. I also had the pleasure of teaching alongside some of my former teachers for nine years at the high school where I graduated.

In addition to teaching, I served for three years at the Florida Department of Education as the policy specialist monitoring state laws and rules relating to teacher certification.

Some of my professional interests are working with new teachers, developing curriculum, teaching poetry with music, studying all things British literature, and helping students with the college process.

This summer I got married in a tiny covid ceremony. Some of my favorite things are: my 12 year old pug, iced coffee, photography, listening to music, reading, traveling (pre-covid), true crime shows. My favorite trip has been hiking and camping in Patagonia, Chile.
