Florida High Orchestra
Hello, my name is Terice Allen, and I want to welcome you to the Florida High Orchestra and Guitar programs. I received my Bachelor of Music Education degree from University of North Texas and my Masters degree in Music Education from Florida State University. I taught in the Richardson Independent School, Richardson, Texas, as well as the Denton Independent School District, Denton, Texas, and was a co-director for the North Texas Junior Youth Orchestra. This is my 26th year at Florida High and my 34th teaching, and I am currently serving as the department chair for the performing arts department at FSUS. I have had the pleasure of having a number of interns at FSUS over the years and have been a Mentor Chair for the Florida Orchestra Association, as well as a member of the Florida Music Director Editorial Committee. I was involved with the Tallahassee Symphony Youth Orchestra as the director of the Primos, coach of the Tallahassee Fiddlers, as well as a coach of the bass, cello and viola sections of the Senior Orchestra. I was on the review board for the Music Demonstration Schools in the State of Florida. I have been an all-state orchestra auditions district co-chairperson, a co-chair of the Florida Orchestra Association District 3 and I hold memberships in MENC, FMEA, FOA. I have worked on research projects with a professor and doctoral candidates at FSU. I've been a substitute cellist for the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, performed with the Allen Family Cello Quartet, and was a member of the Big Bend Community Orchestra. I am published in the Florida Music Director and have presented at the Florida Music Education Association convention. I have judged orchestra solo & ensemble and orchestra Music Performance Assessment around the state of Florida, as well as the Tallahassee Bach Parley, Kids Go For B’roque Competition. My students have consistently received superior ratings at their Music Performance Assessments and the North Florida String Festival.
I have two children and two adorable grandchildren. My oldest son is a registered rehab nurse and my youngest son is a cellist, a cello teacher, a pilot and a flight instructor. I have two amazing cats, Noah and Joey, and in my spare time I enjoy reading, singing, crossword puzzles, running, weight-lifting, and FSU football. 2022-2023 is going to be a great year!
